da pinnacle: According to reports by Turkish sports website Turkish Football, Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Besiktas midfelder Oguzhan Ozyakup this summer.
da imperador bet: Turkish Football says that the Magpies are ready to join Premier League rivals Everton in wanting to bring the former Arsenal academy graduate back to England, with his contract with the Super Lig club due to expire at the end of the season.
The report adds that Besiktas are still hoping to come to an agreement over a new deal even though the 25-year-old is still likely to leave Istanbul in the summer, in order to ensure they receive a transfer fee for the Turkey international.
Meanwhile, West Ham United are another top flight club that will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer should they retain their Premier League status, as they currently lie just one place and two points above 18th-placed Southampton ahead of a potentially season-defining clash at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Even though his future is yet to be confirmed amid a club insider saying the Irons are targeting a move for Manuel Pellegrini, David Moyes will already be planning for next season and may see central midfield as a priority given he failed to bring in a player in that position during the January transfer window, and Ozyakup needs to be on his radar.
Here are three reasons West Ham must hijack Newcastle’s bid to sign the 25-year-old…
Despite being a key player for the east London outfit in recent seasons, Kouyate has really struggled for form this season, and his poor displays on the pitch certainly haven’t gone unnoticed by the London Stadium faithful, who are increasingly unhappy with the 28-year-old.
With captain Mark Noble getting no younger and with Kouyate struggling, West Ham may even look to move the Senegal international on this summer, which would potentially leave them looking for one central and one defensive midfielder.
Ozyakup would certainly fit the bill given he has impressed in the centre of the park for Besiktas in 213 appearances for them.
WhoScored.com lists two of his main strengths as his passing and his dribbling, and he would certainly add some creativity and a goal threat to West Ham from the middle of the park considering he has 27 goals and 48 assists in 213 appearances in total for Besiktas.
He has also shown his ability on the ball by successfully completing 17 of the 24 dribbles he has attempted in 26 outings in the Champions League and the Super Lig this term, which would suggest he would need a more defensively-minded player alongside him at the London Stadium.
Lastly, the 25-year-old has also captained Besiktas on a number of occasions this season which show his leadership skills, and he is exactly the type of strong character that the Irons should be looking for this summer.
While Besiktas are hopeful that Ozyakup will sign a new contract that will allow them to receive a transfer fee if he is sold this summer, it is far from guaranteed that it will happen.
If it doesn’t then the 25-year-old will be available on a free transfer, and West Ham surely wouldn’t be able to turn down the chance to try and sign a player who has plenty of experience of playing at the highest level in the Champions League for nothing, if they are looking to improve the success of their recruitment.
