da 888casino: Tottenham Hotspur have reopened the prospect of selling wantaway defender Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United this summer, according to Yahoo Sport.
What’s the latest, then?
da dobrowin: Yahoo report that negotiations broke down between the two clubs but Spurs have revealed themselves to be open to do a deal before the August deadline.
They say that is it believed that United walked away before as a bargaining tool to get the price down but that £60m is still being demanded by Tottenham.
They also claim that Spurs are still reluctant to sell the 6ft 1in (1.86m) ace to a direct Premier League rival ahead of a season when both Spurs and United will be looking to close the gap on holders Manchester City.

£60m is a ludicrous asking price
Alderweireld is an incredibly talented defender of great experience and United need defensive reinforcements but he is 29 and injury-prone.
On top of that, he’s only got one year left on his contract and it is clear that United’s interest has been piqued by a cut-price deal, not paying top whack for a defender who does not have that long left at the top or an injury record that can be relied upon.
Daniel Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator but he does not hold the cards on this one; he needs to get a deal done to avoid lumbering Pochettino with an unsettled presence in his dressing room and also to avoid being forced to do a deal at £25m next summer.
United have to play hardball here.
