Martinez doesn’t want Toon job
Journalist Luke Edwards has reported that Roberto Martinez has no interest in becoming the new boss at Newcastle. It had been reported that the Toon had wanted to give him the top job, but the Spaniard seemingly wants to stay with Belgium rather than move to Tyneside.
Fee agreed for Perez
BBC Sport is reporting that Newcastle have agreed a fee with Leicester City for Spanish striker Ayoze Perez. The sum is reported to be £30m and the 25-year-old is now due to discuss personal terms. Perez was the club’s top goalscorer last year, bagging 13 in all competitions.
Lazaar comments on future
Achraf Lazaar has confirmed that there is currently no deal in the pipeline for him to leave Newcastle this summer. The 17-cap Moroccan told Calcio Mercato, “I have finished my holidays and now I go back to Newcastle (for pre-season). Will I go back to Italy? Now there is nothing. I think only of Newcastle.” Lazaar has only ever made 10 appearances for the Magpies since signing in 2016.
