It seems, to the Toon Army at least, that Mike Ashley is suddenly happy to back his manager, despite not giving Rafael Benitez the same kind of support during his tenure.
Just to put things into perspective, Newcastle spent more than £20m just once under Benitez, and now, suddenly, they are breaking the bank for Joelinton in Bruce’s first week at the club.
Let’s not forget Ashley opted against the permanent signing of Salomon Rondon, a player Benitez clearly likes, even thoughÂRondon’s release clause was only as high as £16.5m.
