The injury completed a miserable week for Cunha, who missed a penalty in United's shootout defeat by Grimsby, their first ever loss to a fourth division side and one of their most humiliating results ever.
DID YOU KNOW?
Cunha was United's first signing of the summer, joining from Wolves for £62.5m. Although he is yet to score or get an assist he has thrilled fans in his first few matches, especially against Arsenal. But he is now a doubt for the derby against Manchester City on September 14 and United's next league fixture against Chelsea on September 21. He is almost certain to miss Brazil's next two World Cup qualifiers, at home to Chile and away to Bolivia.
