The board’s expectations
Primarily, the board will ask that you increase the number of season ticket holders by 10% of the stadium’s 21,944 capacity and increase the value of the club by 20%.
Other than that, they would be happy staying in the middle of the table and putting on an FA Cup run that stretches into the Round of 16 – better that and the financial and brand targets will fall into place.
The transfer kitty
Burnley may have shocked the Premier League in the 2017-18 season to challenge Arsenal for the final automatic Europa League qualification place, but the squad could do with a revamp.
For such a reason, the board allocate £39million for transfers with a £123,000 wage allowance, but a slight tweak to a 90/10% split (£41m transfers, £88k wage) will ease the burden of player bonuses and agent fees.
Three players to buy
Kevin Mbabu
Right-back is not one of the Clarets’ best positions, and a great option to sign is BSC Young Boys’ Kevin Mbabu.
The 23-year-old is valued at £9million but is a rapid, strong option that can dominate the right-flank. But be warned, try to be snide with a low offer and the Swiss club will walk away without a second thought.
Jose Campana
Central midfield is another position in need of fresh blood, and Levante UD’s Jose Campana is a finished product perfect for Burnley.
The Spaniard can be deployed in each central midfield role with beautifully balanced attributes and an asking price close to £13million, despite a £29m release clause.
Wesley Moraes
When it comes to strikers, Dyche has a list of similar options – you can change that with the signing of Club Brugge’s Brazilian forward Wesley Moraes.
The 21-year-old holds a £19.5m release clause, but try your hand with an opening offer closer to £15m and the physical & powerful finisher will be yours.
Should you sign the 6 foot 3 forward, consider setting his individual instructions to staying forward, or he’ll burn through his stamina with high attacking and defensive work rates.

Three players to sell
Tom Heaton
From being the first name on the team sheet to barely getting a look in, Tom Heaton has suffered a colossal fall from grace.
The 32-year-old is now the third choice goalkeeper at Turf Moor, behind Nick Pope and Joe Hart, and with a £6.5million valuation, should be sold.
Luckily, there should not be a shortage of clubs chasing his signature.
Stephen Ward
Stephen Ward is hardly a poor left-back, but when Charlie Taylor has youth and potential on his side in the battle of the left-backs, the 33-year-old becomes the distinct underdog.
The Republic of Ireland international’s wage is also too high for him to be kept around as second fiddle.
Sam Vokes
Even if you don’t look to sign a striker like Wesley, who would represent a different option up top, there’s still a lot of competition to be the starting striker at Burnley.
The three best options all hover around the same rating, meaning at least one should be sold to free space for a younger alternative. The best for that would be Sam Vokes, who comes in at the bottom of the pack regarding attributes, value and presence.
Three for the future
Dwight McNeil
Burnley’s academy has not been prolific in turning out future world-beaters, but one of the few to keep an eye on is Dwight McNeil.
The 18-year-old left-midfielder starts with a 63 rating, decent pace and decent dribbling, but can go on to be a solid 77 deserving of a spot on the bench.
Aiden O’Neill
You’ll have to ignore 19-year-old Aiden O’Neill in the first season of your career, unless you activate his release clause, for he starts on loan to Central Coast Mariners.
Once back, he can form a good rotation option in the centre of midfield with respectable potential and solid base stats.
Jimmy Dunne
Like O’Neill, Jimmy Dunne will not be available in the first season as he’s out on loan at Hearts, and will also not make it as a first choice member in your team, but the 21-year-old can fill a slot on the bench at the very least.
