Wrexham are set to join a host of Championship sides in the race to land Manchester City defender Callum Doyle this summer.

Reynolds and McElhenney have already flexed their financial muscles this summer by bringing in players including Kieffer Moore, Liberato Cacace, Conor Coady and Josh Windass but could be about to invest again. Wrexham have joined Norwich City, Leicester City and Coventry City in the race for Manchester City defender Callum Doyle, as reported by Football League World.

Doyle came through City's academy but is still waiting to make his first-team debut. He has enjoyed loan spells with Sunderland, Coventry City, Leicester City and Norwich City and may be on the move again this summer. City are thought to want around £10 million ($13m) as he still has two years left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Wrexham fans will have to wait and see if the Welsh club can win the race for Doyle's signature. In the meantime, Phil Parkinson's side are in EFL action on Tuesday against Hull City and then go in search of their first Championship points of the season on Saturday against West Brom.
