da blaze casino: Premier League new boys Swansea City are still waiting for their first win of the season after holding on to a 0-0 draw against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
da pinnacle: The home side dominated possession in the first half, with new signing Danny Graham going close only to be denied by Ali Al Habsi in the Wigan goal.
After being the better side but failing to make the breakthrough, Swansea were very nearly punished. Returning to his old club, Roberto Martinez’s Wigan crafted their best opportunities of the game in the second-half when Victor Moses and Jordi Gomez both struck the woodwork.
With Swansea looking like they had weathered the storm, defender Ashley Williams fouled Gomez in the box to concede a penalty. But new signing Michel Vorm, who was impressive against Manchester City in their previous game, saved Ben Watson’s penalty to keep the scores level.
Whilst the result meant Swansea came away with their first point, both managers could be disappointed with the final score. Brendan Rodgers’ home games are crucial to staying in the top flight this season but they did well to withstand the late Wigan pressure. For the visitors, Roberto Martinez will be looking for more from his side after two consecutive draws against newly promoted teams.
