da leao: Forget the Champions League, the Championship is where it’s at this midweek.
da blaze casino: While some will be watching Arsenal battle to a valiant win yet still slip out vs. Bayern Munich, the second tier of English football has some great fixtures on offer, with Huddersfield hosting Aston Villa one of the picks of the bunch.
The Villans travel to the John Smith’s Stadium looking for a fourth straight win, but the Terriers have ambitions of overhauling Brighton to break into the automatic promotion places, yet to do so they can seldom afford slips between now and the end of the season.
While promotion is on the agenda for Huddersfield, Villa are gearing up for another Championship campaign, and to cope with this they could look to target a couple of players from David Wagner’s squad. Although these plans may be somewhat ambitious if the Yorkshire men go up, here are THREE Aston Villa fans want…
3) Aaron Mooy
The logistics of actually signing Mooy may be tricky given that he’s on loan at the John Smith’s Stadium from Manchester City, who signed him last summer, but Villa fans would like to have the Australian midfielder in Birmingham.
Given the quality of player at the Etihad Stadium, there’s every chance that the Citizens will be open to a deal for the 26-year-old, so there remains the chance of a loan or permanent swoop in the summer, but this one may be a little too unworkable.
2) Philip Billing
Standing at 6ft. 5”, Billing is imposing for a 20-year-old and Villa fans have seemingly been wowed by him. Despite snapping up Mile Jedinak over the summer, the Villans haven’t looked entirely secure in the centre of the pitch, and even though Billing is young he could add some physicality to the mix for Steve Bruce.
1) Nahki Wells
Linked with Villa back in August of last year by the Telegraph, Wells is certainly a name fans of the Midlands club are well acquainted with. The Bermudan forward has been a bit of a Football League sensation both with Huddersfield and Bradford, so with the Villans set for another campaign in the second tier as their quest for an immediate return to the Premier League looks doomed to fail, there’s a certain logic to wanting him in Bruce’s XI.
