Football FanCast takes a look at the XI manager Roy Hodgson should select against the Magpies.
Vicente Guaita is the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and will surely continue between the sticks.
Martin Kelly is the only senior option at right-back and has to play.
James Tomkins will surely play at centre-back, and it makes sense for Hodgson to take a risk alongside him. Dann isn’t likely to play after reportedly suffering a calf strain on Friday and that opens the door for Sam Woods to play.
The 21-year-old has yet to make his league debut but was on the bench against Brighton and should be given a chance to shine.
At left-back, there is something of a problem if Riedewald isn’t fit, but Hodgson will be hoping and praying that he is.
Did he really play for us?! No Palace fan has managed to name all of these obscure Eagles signings….
In midfield, Palace need some creativity after clocking less than 40% possession against Brighton; Max Meyer should replace Cheikhou Kouyate, with Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur alongside him.
Up front, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha should keep their places on the flanks but it is time to drop Christian Benteke.
He has yet to score this season and Connor Wickham cannot be any worse; he should be given an opportunity this weekend.
Meanwhile, Palace could offload a major flop in January.
