The former Three Lions boss Sam Allardyce was a guest on talkSPORT earlier this week, and he suggested that Gareth Southgate would be verging on desperation to if Mason Greenwood was on the substitutes bench.
Here’s what he said on his potential call-up:
“Greenwood may be a substitute for England but that’s desperation at this stage.”
Greenwood is, of course, just 18 years of age and he’s got his whole career in front of him, but the appearances he’s made for the Red Devils so far have been fairly impressive.
He’s even managed to bag ten goals and four assists in his first 36 displays fo United, four of which have come from five Europa League games in 2019/20.
There is talent and potential in there but Allardyce seems to be against his inclusion.
